Google's Directory uses data from the Open Directory Project, which is enhanced with thier PageRank ratings.
If you search (as opposed to browse), then Google searches not only pages in the directory itself, but also pages within websites that are listed
in the directory. This is a good thing because it will produce results for more specific queries and will return listings of higher quality than the
web search. Listings are sorted by default according to thier PageRank, although you can also view them sorted alphabetically.
The directory search uses the same syntax as thier web search.
