About the ‘Links’ Section
Labeled as ‘links,’ this section includes tools which show backlinks to specific webpages and/or websites. Backlinks are webpages which link to the given page. Backlinks are useful for several reasons. You can find related websites, gauge the popularity of your (or anyone else’s) website, and find what people are writing about that page. The ‘From Blogs’ subsection includes tools which generally show backlinks only from weblogs.
Below is a listing of the tools in this section, along with their descriptions.
General
- Yahoo!
- Backlinks to the webpage known to the Yahoo! search engine.
- Yahoo! (site)
- Backlinks to the website known to the Yahoo! search engine.
- MSN
- Backlinks known to MSN Search.
- Google
- Backlinks known to the Google search engine. Google does not show all backlinks.
- Gigablast
- Backlinks known to the Gigablast search engine.
From Blogs
- BlogPulse
- BlogPulse goes beyond showing backlinks from blogs, to showing ‘conversations’ centred around that link.
- Bloglines
- Backlinks from blogs known to Bloglines, an online RSS/Atom aggregator.
- Blogdex
- Backlinks from blogs, known to the Blogdex blog indexer, each is listed with the date that the link was first seen.
- Technorati
- Backlinks from blogs known to the Technorati blog indexer. Each result is shown with an extract containing the link.
- Feedster
- Backlinks from blogs known to the Feedster RSS/Atom search engine.
- BlogDigger
- Backlinks from blogs known to the BlogDigger RSS/Atom search engine.
- Waypath
- Backlinks from blogs, known to the Waypath blog indexer, each is listed with the date that the link was first seen and an extract from the page Unlike some other backlinks tools, Waypath lists the permalinks rather than blog home pages.
- Daypop
- Backlinks from blogs and news websites known to the Daypop search engine.
- BlogRolling
- BlogRolling is a service for bloggers to include blogrolls (lists of blogs) on their own blogs. This shows what users include the given site on their blogroll.
- Popdex
- Backlinks from blogs (as well as the date of linkage) known to the Popdex blog indexer.
